As would probably be expected the Atlanta-Sandy Springs-Marietta leads the employment statistics with just over 10,000 medical assistant jobs. The area with the second highest medical assistant employment includes the area of Chattanooga Tennessee.

Because of the way the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reports the information the area that includes parts of two states in reported together. This area has about 1300 jobs. It shows that the Atlanta area by far has the highest employment of medical assistants in the state.

In third place is the Augusta-Richmond County area with over 1100 jobs.

At the other end is Brunswick GA with the lowest employment in medical assistants at around 170.

Looking at the average hourly salary data, Atlanta still comes in on top with $29,960 but not by much. The top three metropolitan areas all have average annual salaries of just under $30,000.

The lowest salary can be found in the Albany area at $23,490. If you look at the spread of salary information across all the metropolitan areas you will see that it is a fairly narrow range. This is especially true across the top eight areas.
