Looking first at employment, the Omaha – Council Bluffs area has the highest employment of medical assistants at just less than 1600. Of the two other metropolitan areas for which information is available, Sioux City has the lowest level of employment at 240. The other area is Lincoln with employment at 660.

There are four nonmetropolitan areas that have data available but all range from about 100 to 400 jobs across the state.

The number of medical assistants and the demographic location of the jobs should not be a surprise for anyone who knows the state of Nebraska. The Omaha area is the largest population center and would ordinarily have both the highest employment level and the highest average annual salaries.
