Medical Assistant Salary and Job Information for Nevada

Nevada State SealThe state of Nevada does not have the most medical assistant jobs in the country but the ones that are there have good average pay. The State ranks 32nd among the 50 states for employment. There about 4700 jobs across the state. Given the population of Nevada and the concentration of the population in just few cities this should not be a big surprise to anyone.

From a salary perspective the news is much better. Nevada ranks 19th in average annual salary. The average annual pay statewide is $31,360. But this doesn’t tell the whole story. If you are looking for a medical assistant’s job in Nevada you need to understand where those jobs are located.

If you look first at where the jobs are, you shouldn’t be surprised that the Las Vegas area has the most. Jobs there are estimated by the Bureau of Labor Statistics at just less than 3600. Reno comes in second with about 700 and Carson City is the smallest metropolitan area with about 150 jobs.

When you look at the data for average annual salaries the picture is quite different. Carson City which has the lowest number of jobs has the highest average annual salary in the State at $34,470. Las Vegas which has the most jobs has the lowest average annual salary of the three metropolitan areas at $30,950.

So it just goes to show you that just because an area has more jobs available, they might not be the highest paying positions. Now you need to remember that all these numbers are estimates and any one particular job may vary considerably. There are many factors that will influence the actual pay level that a particular job will have.

So when you r start looking for that medical assistant’s job make sure you give yourself the best chance. First get medical assistant training from an accredited program. Get certified. Put together the strongest resume and cover letter you can. Put in the effort to do this the right way. A good medical assisting resume will pay dividends in the long run. It’s your career future.
