Looking first at employment levels you will see that the Charlotte-Gastonia-Rock Hill area has the most jobs at 2,630. Note that this area includes data from both North and South Carolina. The Charleston-North Charleston-Summerville area is in second place with about 2,200 jobs.

The metropolitan areas with the fewest number of medical assistants include Florence, Anderson and Sumter with 230, 220 and 170 jobs respectively.

Looking at average annual salaries you see the top two areas reversed. The highest salaries will be found in Charleston-North Charleston- Summerville area at $30,970 and the Charlotte-Gastonia-Rock Hill area is second with $30,060.

The lowest metropolitan areas for average salary are Spartanburg, Sumter and Florence at $28,330, $26,640 and $25,140 respectively.

Make sure your have the proper training from an accredited medical assistant training program. This will allow you to become a certified medical assistant upon successful completion of the exam. Once you have completed this, prepare a strong resume that make you attractive to prospective employers. Prepare a good cover letter for each job you want to apply for and then get out and start applying.
