The most medical assistant jobs will be found in the Salt Lake area. This is probably no surprise. The employment level there is just over 2,600 jobs. The Ogden area is next with about 1,300 jobs followed by Provo with 1,200.

The fewest number of jobs will be found in the Logan area with just 220. There are four areas outside of the major cities all with very few jobs reported. This clearly shows that most of the jobs will be found in the major population centers in the state.

When you look at data for average annual salaries you see a different picture. The highest salaries in the state are actually found outside the major metropolitan areas. They will be found in Eastern Utah at $29,570. The Salt Lake City has the second highest salaries at $29,010 and the most jobs.

The lowest salaries of the major cities will be found in the Provo area. Salaries there average $26,880. In Utah, where you are looking for a job will make a difference in the salary levels but the range of salaries is not extreme across the state.

As always you need to understand how to use this data. It is helpful as a guide as you begin your job search so you know what you might expect in the market. But remember there are many different things that can affect the actual pay level of any particular job. So you might find significant variations in your own search.

The best way to prepare for your career is getting a medical assistant certification and presenting a strong resume and cover letter to prospective employers. You can create a good resume even if you are just starting out and don’t have a lot of experience yet.

Take the time to do this correctly and you will see the results you want.
