Medical Assistant Salary and Jobs Data for the State of Washington

Washington State SealThere is good news for anyone looking for a medical assistant job in the state of Washington. Besides being a beautiful part of the country, there are plenty of jobs in Washington State. It ranks number 12 in the country for medical assistant jobs according to the latest information from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. It has 13,690 medical assistants employed.

The news even gets better when you look at the average annual salary of medical assistants in Washington. The state ranks number three in the country behind only Alaska and Massachusetts. This is great news. The average salary in Washington is $35,330.

While these numbers look good, to really understand the jobs picture in Washington you need to take a closer look at the state data.

You will find the most jobs in the Seattle-Tacoma area. This is probably not a surprise to anyone. The area reports just under 7,300 jobs. It is important to note that some of the metropolitan areas overlap state lines. This is done because it reflects major population centers that cross state boundaries.

The fewest number of jobs will be found in the Bellingham and Longview areas with 210 and 170 jobs reported respectively.

It should also be no surprise that the highest average annual salaries will be found in the Seattle area. Salaries there are about $35,500. The Tacoma area itself has an employment level of just under 1,200 and an average salary of $34,920.

On the other hand Spokane which has an employment level very similar to Tacoma at 1,140 jobs has an average salary of only $31,030. So it can make a difference where you are looking for a job in Washington.

But also remember that these numbers are estimates that can and will change over time. To get the best jobs out there in your area make sure you do several things. First, get the best medical assistant training you can. Work to get a medical assistant certification. The job market is getting very competitive.

Once you have the training and your certification, put together the best resume you can. Take the time to do this properly. It will make a big difference in the kind of job interviews you will get.
